Albaqir Mukhtar
Albaqir Mukhtar (North Sudan) is the director of KACE (al-Khatim Adlan Centre for Enlightenment and Human Development), a Sudanese NGO aimed at promoting freedom of thought and research with the ultimate goal of peacefully resolving Sudan’s internal conflicts. Until October 2006 he was a senior fellow with the US Institute of Peace, where he researched a forthcoming book entitled (provisionally) “A Divided Pallet: Culture, Identity and the Civil War in Sudan”. Previously he was the Regional Campaign Coordinator for the Middle East and Africa program for Amnesty International. He has also lectured on Middle Eastern Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University and linguistics at Jazira University in Sudan. He has written several books, including: “Categorization of Muslims’ Responses to Human Rights”.
